Hi,
I have a really old image of my great grandmother Rose Lillian Sweetland née Boulton and my grandfather Leonard taken around 1923, I think in Prospect Park, Reading, Berkshire, England. It has gone silver. At certain angles when the light hits it you can see them.
If anyone can restore it we as a family would be hugely greatful.

Best wishes Emma

Hi Emma...Is there any chance that you could scan this at a resolution of 300dpi...this is what I see and it pixelates badly on enlargement. There is a tutorial at the top of the board for guidance. You can post a file size of up to 500kbs on here.

Dear Carol,

Thank you so much for taking a look at this, your enlargement has allowed me to see my great grandmother in more detail than I have before. The original picture is about 4.5 x 6cm. I have scanned it at 300 dpi but the scan is 650mb so I am trying to work out how to make it smaller. Will take a look at the tutorial you suggested and get back to you.
I didn't think we would be able to see anything and now there is the possibility of hope. Thank you so much.
Best wishes Emma.

Dear Carol,
Is this image better? If not I will borrow my mum's scanner as hers is better.
Best wishes Emma

Hi Emma....It is very damaged so if you could get it scanned without the mount, that would be best.

As Carol said ..you will gain better results if you scan the picture it self without the frame

Dear Loord74 and Carol,

I will see what I can do to get the mount off and scan it with a better scanner. Thank you for your help.
Best wishes Emma

I managed to get the mount off and my lovely neighbour let me borrow his scanner, it is 300dpi (highest resolution I am afraid) with low compression, he said high compression would = less pixels? I don't know what that means but guess he means the number of dots that make up the image! The image itself feels hard like metal or thin glass rather than a photo now it is out of the mount.
Best wishes Em

Ps they might be on a beach as that looks like a beached boat on the top left??
