Looking for baptism of Eleanor WRIGHTE abt 1756 possibly Thrussington
« on: Saturday 28 April 18 15:10 BST (UK) »
Eleanor WRIGHTE [sic] married by Banns William GARNER 6 May 1776 Thrussington.  William was a widower and Eleanor a single woman both of the Parish.

William was baptised 26 Oct 1744 Wymeswold.  His first wife Ann CHAMBERS was baptised 1749.

I cannot locate a good match for Eleanor around this period and hoping for some assistance please.

There is a tree online that has Eleanor's parents as Thomas Wright b 1740 baptised Thrussington 20/7/1740 and Margaret Dunno. Needs lots of checking out though.
regards.

I located a marriage on FindMyPast as a transcription for England Marriages 1538-1973 of the marriage of Samuel GARNER & Eleanor WRIGHTE of Thrussington on 06 May 1776 which is really curious.

There is also a marriage between William GARNER & Eleanor WRIGHTE also 06 May 1776 also at Thrussington.

William & Eleanors marriage has the a copy of the Banns rather than a transcription.  I checked back over the Banns with marriage date specified and there is no ambiguity with William GARNERs name and cannot see that anyone would incorrectly transcribe Samuel in place of William. ??? ???

As you have seen the image of the original parish entry for William's marriage to Eleanor, I don't quite understand why you are even considering the "transcription".  The original entry has two instances of William Garner being named by the clergy - the Banns and Marriage - PLUS William actually signed the register.   ;D

Transcriptions and NBI are merely finding aids.  They are NOT a substitute for original record entries.
