Hello,

Jane married John Underwood in Rothley in 1797. I believe she is the Jane Underwood born 1770 in Belgrave on one census, but I can't remember which. Can anyone find me a baptism?

Probably the 1861 census? Here at Mountsorrrel Lane, Rothley

Jane Underwood  (widow)  91   Leicster, Belgrave  (char woman)

RG09/2281 / 60 pg 6

(what a woman if she was still working at 91!  )

Jane Underwood  (widow)  82  Mow Maker Hill, Leicester  (parish relief)

HO107/2087 / 357 pg 19

(presumably Mowmacre Hill ?)

Yes, I believe that is her. No baptism can be found sadly

On the 2nd inst. at Rothley, Mrs Jane Underwood, aged 98 years

Burial at Rothley was on the 5th so presume death was the 2nd of April

Marriages by License at Mountsorrel
George Waldram 31 January 1759 to Mary Bruxby in the presence of Eben Jones and John Simpson Junior.

I have looked in Belgrave and Rothley Parish Registers and cannot see any other baptisms. Rothley has a  headstone for the Waldram family Benjamin 1842 & Elizabeth his wife 1870  but by the look of things they could have come from that area as Jane was married from there
