Mary Jellis
« on: Saturday 28 April 18 16:39 BST (UK) »
Hello,

Mary married James Graves in 1801 in Radwinter. She was born in around 1773 in Great Sampford if memory serves (based off a census record). Can anyone find me a baptism?

Thanks,

Adam

There are jellis children baptised in radwinter, which would make sense as marriages were usually in the bride's parish. Martha baptised in 1777. Will hunt around a bit.

My mistake - she was buried in Great Sampford. Born in Radwinter.

Radwinter: Mary of John and Mary jellis 22/8/1773
Looks like they only had girls as their son Thomas baptised 1774 was buried a short while later. Martha 1777, susannah 1781, sarah 1786, Bridget 1794. Maybe miscarriages in between as long gaps.
Found burials but no baptisms of three more daughters: Martha bur 1772, Rebecca bur 1783, Amy bur 1790.
Also found a burial for Mary jellis 1791 but the bap of Bridget definitely says John and Mary as parents. Will check marriages.

John jellis married Mary chapman 29/10/1771 radwinter by banns.

There’s a family tree that says he was born 1746 in Nil, Amur, Russia.

Mary chapman bap 15/5/1748 to John and Mary chapman in radwinter or Mary of William and Dorcas chapman 12/1/1748.

Thanks very much! Born in Russia? Is that likely?
