Mile end infirmary
« on: Saturday 28 April 18 23:09 BST (UK) »
I have a birth certificate of Violet Madeline St George born 10/04/1901 to Matilda St George formerly Robson.

Father Harry St George  (deceased).
Matilda gives her address as 48 Jupps Road Mile End Road
Birth registered on 22/04/1901 Mile End Infirmary

I am wondering if any one can find out anything more from infirmary records. I think she was listed as an inmate at the infirmary during the census on 31/3/1901.
I really need to get her age as there is another Matilda St George living at the Jupps Road but she is 43. My Matilda   has 2 children Matilda 3 Grace 2. There are 2 boys William 16 and Frederick 14 but they cannot be her sons as she would have been too young.

I have not found a marriage certificate yet. Harry St George died 30/08/1900 age 38

St George/ Robson   {Bethnal Green /Shoreditch}
Thornton/ Wand /Wall/ Jones   {Paddington/ Bethnal Green}
Marklew /Wall  {Bethnal Green }
Sanderson/ Wayman { Ely Cambridgeshire}

If she is on the 1901 census - isn’t her birth year shown?  If you don’t know her birth year - how do you know she was too young to be the mother of the 2 boys?

A Matilda St George b 1878 is in the infirmary in 1901 but no marital status shown and occ is charwoman.  Admitted 30th March discharged 19th April.  No children

I think your Matilda St George goes on to marry Alfred Hathaway in June 1/4 1904 Mile End registration district. His first wife was Ann Hagley.
Birth
Henry Thomas John Hathaway March 1/4 1908 Poplar mmn Robson vol 1c page 586

Your Matilda born c1877 Mile End so this may be her birth reg
Matilda Elizabeth Mary Ann Robson March 1/4 1879 Mile end vol 1c page 588. Mmn Weinling
However there are 4 more birth registrations for a Matilda Robson 1877 +/- 2 years. Tynemouth, Holborn, Bridlington, Whitechapel.

If you look at the 1901 image for the 43yr old Matilda - there is a Robson family on the same page which may or may not be a coincidence

Have you checked freebmd for births for all 4 children on the 1901 entry then checked GRO online for mother’s maiden name?

Have you looked for the older Matilda on earlier censuses to establish her husbands name?
