ManxBMD has her death:
1960, Cain Sarah Annie, Age 89
District Douglas, Vol 476, page 3592

Nothing found in Douglas Borough Cemetery - but not a surprise if she was cremated?
Nothing in Braddan Cemetery, either.

yes that's her death.  She died on the eve of her 90th.  Not sure why I wrote 2nd Jan it was 31st!!

Just looked - her husband was 2nd Jan but in 63!

I will assume that ashes were either scattered or stayed in England after the cremation.

Thank you for looking

Wills since 1950 can be searched, in person, at the Probate Registry in Douglas.
As I said before, it costs £2.50 per will.

I am happy to look for you, if that is what you want.

The Probate Registry opens from 9am to 4:30 pm (4pm on Fridays).
I will be away from Friday to Tuesday, so I can't do it then.

I've been doing some digging! ;D

Sarah Annie Jaggar, born Oxford 1870.
Married (1) Alfred James Oxford, 1896, Burton Upon Trent.
Married (2) Richard Cain, 1924, Burton Upon Trent.

The executor of her will was step-son James Mylchreest Cain, MHK (died 1981).
Son: Frederick Charles Oxford (b 1899) of Kenya

Daughters:
Edith Annie Oxford (b 1901), of Vancouver, Canada
Mary Frances Gilmour (b 1903), of Liverpool
Margaret Jane Morris (b 1909), of Taunton
Georgina Ethel Nicholson (b 1912) of Basingstoke

2 Granddaughters mentioned, but I won't name them in case they are still living.

Richard and Sarah's address was "St Helena", Spring Valley.
I suspect this has disappeared under the Spring Valley Trading Estate? (B&Q, PC World, etc).

There were bequests to 3 others, including her doctor.
One of these lived in the same terrace as I do now ;D

MHK = Member of the House of Keys; the Manx Parliament.
Local equivalent to an MP

This is all great, thank you.  Sarah Annie Cain's ashes were scattered in the Parish of Walton on Trent, Derbyshire on the 11th Feb 1960.  The parish entry states she was of The Isle of Man and aged 89.  Hope this helps.
