Names of witnesses
« on: Monday 30 April 18 06:31 BST (UK) »
Can anyone please help with identifying the names of these two witnesses. I can't make out the first name, and the second one is something Dowdeswell.
Hopefully the image is large enough.
Thanks in advance.
I am Australian, from all the lands I come (my ancestors, at least!)

Pine/Pyne, Dowdeswell, Kempster, Sando/Sandoe/Sandow, Nancarrow, Hounslow, Youatt, Richardson, Jarmyn, Oxlade, Coad, Kelsey, Crampton, Lindner, Pittaway, and too many others to name.
Devon, Dorset, Gloucs, Cornwall, Warwickshire, Bucks, Oxfordshire, Wilts, Germany, Sweden, and of course London, to name a few.

No, not even close...

Please zoom the image to a large size on screen before making the clip.

Hi Pinefamily, The signatures go very blurry when they are enlarged but the first person's first name looks like James and their second name could possibly start with L. I can't make anything out in the second name, sorry.

I didn't want to influence anyone, but I thought perhaps the first one is Anne something, possibly starting with a H. The initial(s) of the second witness have me stumped.

The first forename could well be Ann, with the second n spread out more than the first.

ADDED:

The first surname might end with the letters r-d.

The first surname looks something like Halimond to me.

I have looked at entries preceding and after this one, and "she" (if it is Anne) does not appear to be a regular witness. I am hopeful it turns out to be a relative of the bride.

Hi,

The initials of the second witness look like  A H to me.
The name of the first witness is difficult isn't it? Could it be something like Hardward?  I thought the last 4 letters looked like -ward.

Looby :)
