baugh foster benson derbyshire
« on: Monday 30 April 18 18:07 BST (UK) »
Last time on here shortly after my mums death in 2014 the people here helped me so much tracing her fathers side back to the 1700s. Came to a stalemate where looking for her mums side as common name I have since got hold of my grandmothers birth certificate and don't know what to do next I keep coming to dead ends can anyone help me please? Xx mum as Glenys baugh. Her parents were James baugh and Beatrice May Baugh maiden name Foster. Beatrice parents were James Foster and Elizabeth Foster maiden name Benson. Their address being Shakespeare yard, cross. Beatrice dob was 20th September 1903 and was registered in Chesterfield district sub district Ashover then in the county of Derby. I know she married James June 1927 Chesterfield 7b 2061 Her death at the age of 42 years in Sept 1945 Chesterfield 7b 596. It then started to become very confusing with my mother's, grandmothers side. Please help if you can xx I would also love to find out where Beatrice is buried but haven't a clue I did message local parish but no reply as of yet x any advice much appreciated thank you xx

Hi,

From the census it would appear that Elizabeth Foster (nee Benson) was born c.1858, Easton on the Hill, Northamptonshire.

Struggling to find an Elizabeth Benson on earlier census however there is an Elizabeth Henson that could fit -

1861 - 1871 she is living with her parents William and Eliza.

RG10 Piece 3309 Folio 41 Page 2

In 1881 Elizabeth is a servant living in Uppingham, Rutland

I cannot see a marriage yet for an Elizabeth Henson/Benson to James Foster.

The birth of Beatrice and her brother George William has their mother's maiden name as Benson, however the names Benson and Henson are very similar. Therefore perhaps worth looking further.

I don't suppose James and Elizabeth could be the grandparents of Beatrice and George could they  :-\

If you have a look at the 1911 census at the ages :)

Back to 1901 do we know who George Foster is living with just to double check.

Burroughs - Arlingham Glos

George's birth is q3 1901 so not on the 1901 census.

This looks like James and Elizabeth on the 1901 -

James Williams   51
James Williams   17
James Foster   42
Elizabeth Foster   41
Thomas Moon   49
Eliza Moon   64
John Knifton   56

No George there then.  I may be barking up the wrong tree but James and Elizabeth other children have died so I was just wondering if one of those children was the parent.

Can't see James and Elizabeth in 1891 yet to see if they had any children listed.
