Please can anyone help me?
I am sure I had a record of Thomas joining the Devonshire Militia but I can't find it anywhere and wondered if anyone could help please? I would like to know the years he served and whether he served at home or abroad if possible. I am not sure where to find the record now as the original website where I found it doesn't seem to exist any more
Here is what I know about him:
Parents = his baptism record records him as 'base child of Mary Sweetland' baptised in Kilmington 1751
1773 Married Suzanna Knight at Axminster
Children
Sarah 1774
Maria 1775
Hannah 1776
Thomas 1778-1778
Robert 1796-1797
James 1800
In 1778 he and his family were evicted from Dalwood Devon/Dorset for being poor.
From the baptism years of his children it seems he could have served from around 1778 to 1795.
If anyone can help that would be amazing.
