Henry WEBB b:1786
« on: Tuesday 01 May 18 14:28 BST (UK) »
According to the 1841 census (if this is the right man) Henry was born in middlesex in 1786.

The last fact I have is his son William Webb b:1819 and baptised in Harefield, Middlesex.
The baptism shows a Henry and Sarah as the parents.

I can't find a marriage or any other information.

Where do you find him in 1841?  There's more than one person fitting your description.

What is the earliest definitive record that you have of him?  Is he the father of the William Webb who married Mary Ann Lovell in Shadwell on 1 April 1839, or is this a different family?

Yes, this is the right family. Ancestry pointed me to the 1841 census with Henry on.

I really wouldn't rely on Ancestry hints at the best of times, let alone presently as they seem to have gone very wild lately!

So your William married Mary Ann Lovell - have you found them after their marriage, and where does he claim to have been born?

William was baptised at Harefield St Johns in Hillingdon in 1819

He Married Mary and then died in 1842 in Bethnal Green.

on the 1841 census he claims to have been born in middlesex.

Middlesex is/was a big place - if William's only census is 1841 then unfortunately "Middlesex" doesn't narrow down his birthplace much.  How have you positively linked him to the Harefield baptism (a long way from Shadwell & Bethnal Green)?

I see the following children for William & Mary Ann:

William James Webb, mmn Lovell, Mar qtr 1839 Bethnal Green
John Webb, mmn Lovell, Dec qtr 1841 Bethnal Green
Ayr: Barnes, Wylie
Caithness: MacGregor

yes, they are the children I have.

Its been ages since I linked Harefield, I think it was a leap of faith based on not finding any other information.oh and Henry on the marriage cert was a labourer and the same on the baptism.

I see that Mary Ann had got together with Benjamin Freeman by 1851 and had had further children with him, though they were not married: HO107/1540/300/39.
