I wonder whether anyone is able to help me again please?
« on: Tuesday 01 May 18 16:30 BST (UK) »
My Great Grandmother was Catherine Massey nee MacTaggart b.1856 in Singapore d.1943 in Eastbourne, Sussex. Her father was William b.1829 in Montrose d. 1891 in Lewisham. Her mother was Mary Ann Armstrong m. 17 Jun 1854 in Singapore and who I believe probably died in childbirth to Catherine. I am interested in any record of her or of the Mactaggart family prior to these dates. I know quite a lot about Catherine's half brothers and sisters by Elizabeth Lyall. I was kindly helped a few years ago by someone on the forum, unfortunately I then lost both my father and my wife within a month and so couldn't face family history..... until now! Life is good again, the pain has faded and I have a wonderful new lady in my life, so onward and ever upward! :-)
Massey (London, Woking, Teignmouth), Massie (Banff, Aberdeen - Scotland) Sullivan, O'Sullivan (Kanturk Ireland, London, Woolwich) Mactaggart (Montrose, Angus, Scotland, Singapore), Thornhill (Surrey), Lyall, Walsh, Linehan, Holland, Langton, Armstrong.

From the record of marriage at Familysearch 17th June 1854 Singapore , Mary Ann Armstrong is 18 years old and her father is John Armstrong.
William Mactaggart's father is James Mactaggart.
Catherine Mactaggart born 9th Aug. 1855 , baptised 4th Oct. 1855 Singapore.

Think William Mactaggart marries Elizabeth Campbell Lyall 4th June 1857 Maryton by Montrose Angus.

Wow! Thank you, that is fantastic! She obviously did pass away in childbirth with Catherine. What a tragedy. Thank you for confirming this. How did you find the information?

Wow! Thank you Rosie!  :D  It is amazing how much more information there is out there now I'm back. I would never have thought to look for her on fmg.com because she was in Singapore and fmg was in its infancy when my dear wife died. What a surprise to see the image of her and her father's marker too! x
