Robert McLaren was born in Balquhidder, Perthshire and in the 1890s he was in Argentina, where he married an Englishwoman. Some time soon after 1900, they returned to Britain and settled in County Durham, possibly in the Sunderland area. Their daughter born in Argentina in 1896 went later to Polam Hall School, Darlington. Does anyone have any information about them? Whether this Robert is the Robert McLaren buried at New Herrington in 1917 (wife Helen) I do not yet know.

Rosinish,  It is only natural, and common sense, that I should post something similar in the three areas in which they lived. Andrew Wilson

In which case you should include the links to the other posts. Duplicate posts are not seen by all members which means that a great deal of time can be wasted

Thanks Carole,

Yes it's true, we could have several people looking at the same records on different threads, not helped by the fact each thread is titled in a different way i.e. a wee bit confusing to new people on the trail!

As I mentioned on another of these threads, some background info. is always helpful for a place to begin.

Here he is in 1895.  No sign of the wife.  He [and everyone else in the community] was an employee of the F.C.C.A.  - Ferrocarril Central Argentino.

It may be an idea to add a yr of birth to help people rather than them having to ask you?
You have him born in different places on your different posts & it's always good to keep with one place as Scotland is a big place.

I mention this as people are drawn to posts & more eager if it fits with what they have/know or suspected.

Adding links to your other posts is also helpful to save 'double trouble' with look-ups.

Eveline Muriel Mclaren , age 15 , would seem to be in Darlington on the 1911 Census.
