NP glad we can help.  You will find his parents marriage in Callander in 1856 at Scotland's People.  It will give their parents names as well.

Annie - it's Turk.

Hi Andrew , a welcome to a distant relative , your William McLaren and Mary Beattie are part off a well known family in terms off McLarens from Balquhidder parish , note parish which extended half way or so along Loch Earn , Comrie parish , other half.
William's sister Catharine was my 3 x g/grandmother , both my 3 x g/grandparents being McLarens.

Archibald McLaren and Margaret King , were the parents off William , they had 6 sons and 3 daughters at Easter Auchraw , Lochearnhead.

Archibald's (born 1761 - to past 1841 census) parents were John and Catharine McLaren , John from Carnlia , above Ardveich farm , and Catharine from Ardveich , daughter off Donald McLaren , the Chief in his day.
William McLaren , inherited after the death off his cousin Donald McLaren in 1880 , the chief magistrate and wool merchant in Callander , and subsequently bought  , the farm off Ardveich , however William died in 1893.
The age on his marriage to Mary is wrong , he was born in 1818 , making him 38 at marriage.

I have a huge amount on this family , with many relatives worldwide . The old house where William was born in 1818 , and all the family , is the only thatched house left at Lochearnhead.

Yours Gordon McLaren
