Hoping (on behalf of a friend) someone can find the burial place of her G. G. Grandfather..

Mathew Wardle Bowey.. died..   1902   Northumberland.

He was a Verger in his latter years .. at:  St. Gabriels Church.

here is a clip of the 1901.

There is going to be a gathering of the Bowey Clan sometime this year..

So they would like to find out as much as poss.

There was a death announcement for him in the Evening Chronicle, which might contain details of where he is buried. http://www.genuki.org.uk/big/eng/NBL/DeathNotices/deaths_BORM

I will PM someone who might be able to take a look at the actual announcement for you.

Interesting history of St Gabriel's from their website http://www.stgabrielschurch.co.uk/about-us/history/

I think its very unlikely that there's a burial ground actually at St Gabriels. The church was only built in the late 1890's (see the history I linked to earlier) and space would have been rather restricted. As with most burials in Newcastle at this time I think its more likely have been in one of the large civic cemeteries. Heaton Cemetery was just up the road from where he was living, so my money's on that.

Added: now I've said all that I expect the death announcement will prove me completely wrong  :-X
