1901 census his wife is Elizabeth aged 56.

It’s possible Xinia might get the section number via an email to Bereavement Services in Newcastle per my previous posting, to save you the bother of another look up  :-\

Thanks Jen. Is the age consistent over different census?

This is a puzzle.  Freebmd does not appear to have an Elizabeth Bowey that fits.  I supposed she could have moved or remarried.

Please ask friend if this is her Elizabeth and let me know. :). Sometimes ages fluctuated. ;D

Do you think that the Elizabeth Bowey mentioned in 1906 could be Matthew's wife?

Do you mean the Elizabeth Bowey on the Evening Chronicle Index list?

Matthew's Elizabeth is 46 in the 1891 census.

If it's the same person it's possible the informant had the age at death wrong.

xinia, it might be well worth your while to contact St Gabriel's and ask if they have any more information about Matthew Bowey.

Their history page http://www.stgabrielschurch.co.uk/about-us/history/
contains extracts from their various parish magazines for the time at which he would have been verger. They could well have, say, an obituary for him.

No harm in trying  :D  Email addresses on their contacts page.

Uhhhhm

I decided to check that death myself..

it says 80yrs old which is correct.. but the surname spelling is wrong ... ie  instead of ey

so looking for her in 1911 and though I found all the family have not found her... as....yet..

so will check out the one you found in 1906

and let the know if they have it right or wrong..

xin
