not Hindi, although there is nidesh निर्देश? in Hindi, google says that is; directive.

Which seems similar to the meaning given for Shelta nidash in my earlier link

 ;D Tugger! Ye've cracked it!!!  ;D

" nid'eS ' no '/ not ', ' nothing ', ' do not ', ' is or are not ', and, generally,
an expression of negation in assertion or command (nidash,
nidesh, nidyesh, nyesh, nijesh, nijish, nijes). "

That's exactly how it would have been used! " assertion or command ". Bit like how ye'd tell a child, or a Dog. A short, sharp, 'Stop It!' sort of word.

Brilliant!  ;D So, now we've solved the riddle of exactly what the term means. We've shown that my folk did indeed get it from rubbing shoulders with the Pav's. And we've left me with one less thing to irritate and niggle me on my death bed!  ;D

I wonder if anyone ~ of 'pure' Pavee ancestry ~ is on here? Would be great to gain some insights from the genuine article.

There's so much more, to Family History than copy / paste ancient pedigrees.

I think we've just proven that!  8)

Thanks!
