I reckon so Annie, and it confirms the address I was needing.

Many thanks

Family surnames being researched ...
Crawford, Neilson, Lindsay, Reekie, Davidson
Drummond, Laing, Pearson, Tulloch ... will do for starters but there's a whole lot more!

Hi all

I can't find the family on the 1881 Census  ???  Alexander McLaren was born 1831, Dunblane, Perthshire and Mary (Heslet or Hyslop) was born 1849 in Paisley, Renfrewshire.  Alexander - the mystery address - died in 1887 in Dumbarton.

This looks like Alexander in 1881 (did wife Mary die before 1881?). Entry as transcribed:

Alexander McLarne 47 market gardener b. Dunblane, Perthshire
Elizabeth McLarne 17
Robert McLarne 15
Margaret McLarne 12
Duncan McLarne 10 https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:FQXT-D2C

Address: Glasgow Rd, Dumbarton

Hi Monica

That looks like them  :)  I have Elizabeth, Robert and Margaret from the 1871.  Duncan was born after that.

The name spelling threw the search!

Not sure if his 2nd wife Mary Heslet (or Hyslop) - found it spelt both ways - died before 1881 but I'll search it out tomorrow.

Many thanks

I'm back again ...  :)

Mary remarried after Alexander died in 1887.  I found her through Duncan in the 1891 Census as Mary Gilmour living at Young's Land, Townend Road, Dumbarton.

Six SP credits later  :-X and I have now the 1889 Register of Marriage for Mary and Alexander.

Thanks for the asssitance
