Thanks, all. I'd never have thought of Boga! With your help I was able to find the original census on the Libraries Canada web site. And yes, that is the right birth - I found the original on the Irish Genealogy web site, and he was indeed born in Ringabella, in August 1872. His father was a coastguard and his parents were still in Co Cork in 1901.
Never trust anything you find online (especially submitted trees and transcriptions on Ancestry, MyHeritage, FindMyPast and other commercial web sites) unless it's an image of an original document - and even then be wary because errors can and do occur.

I am at a loss to know what to make of Elizabeth Little, shown as 'Mother' on the line below him!

And I have failed to find Elizabeth Brand in the 1930 census in Maryland, so far.
Never trust anything you find online (especially submitted trees and transcriptions on Ancestry, MyHeritage, FindMyPast and other commercial web sites) unless it's an image of an original document - and even then be wary because errors can and do occur.

Elizabeth Brand was the nearest relative in the country from whence came - Baltimore County Cork (Irish Free State)

Don't think there was a connection to William Boyer  - Elizabeth Little was going to her daughter Phoebe Watt, 6674 Park Ave, Montreal Quebec. Described as her mother. Here she is with the daughter in 1921.

1921 census 746a Del'Epée  Ville Outremont Montreal Quebec.

Peter Watt   33 born 1888 Nova Scotia.
Phoebe Watt   33 born 1888 Ireland.
Elisabeth Little   55 born Ireland. widowed. mother-in-law. immigrated 1919.
