Alfred William Douch possibly born 1876 in Sussex was baptised Feb 1877 in St James,Dublin
Priest notes on his baptism that his father was a Catholic and that he married Eva Predeth 1933 Eastbourne as William A Douch

Where and when did he marry Anne McCormack and did they have any children?

I have found a marriage of an Anne McCormack and Patrick Behan in Ancestry. I don't have full membership to view any details but perhaps this is the Anne McCormack my friend thought was Edwards first wife?

Maybe your friend thought it was a marriage for Edward's parents ?
Patrick Behan married Ann Hanlon ,WIDOW dtr of Hugh McCorm*ck at Philipstown,Tullamore 1885

has 4 birth's 1931 to 1942 in Dublin North for 3 males and 1 female Behan/Douch

if you got the 1942 birth it will give you last known address

Having found Edward Behan and Ellen Douch it appears that when they married there were 30 years between them in age, Edward fathering children at the age of 60yrs. Was this common in Ireland or have I missed a generation, even though Edward was previously married?

Something doesn't have to be common to be possible.
That said it did happen sometimes particularly if there was land or a business, he needed a wife to look after earlier children or an heir, she needed a husband for children and if her and her children's prospects/comfort could be improved by marring an older man than why not.

Hi , I'm the great granddaughter of Edward behan , and Mary-Ellen Douch (Ellen) they had Agnes , Thomas , William , Christopher , Gerard Veronica and my nanny Patricia , together they married after he became widowed , and had grown children from his 1st marriage , she was 17 , her father was Albert Edward Douch who died in Gallipoli in September 1915 her mother came from a travelling family and was Sarah anne Brewster
