Benjamin Cluff - born Dublin Abt. 1780 - records?

Dear fellow researchers,

For several years now, I have been trying to source information on my ancestor: Benjamin Cluff. I know, from census records, that he was born in Dublin abt. 1780. I also know that his father was James Cluff (from Benjamin's Naval records) - however, his James was from Finsbury. I don't know why Benjamin would have been born in Dublin, and I am stuck on the following, having, I feel, exhausted everything that I know:

- Who is Benjamin's mother?
- When was his birth?

Benjamin later married a Martha Packer, in London.

If anyone can help, I would be most grateful. There is always someone in the tree who we get stumped by, and Benjamin is mine!

Just a thought, are you sure it is Finsbury and not Frindsbury Kent, opposite Chatham dockyard so possible fit for a sailor
