The Nellie born 1905 Reading appears to have married Thomas H Walker in Reading in 1935. They can be found together just before WW2

Am guessing she wasn't born as "Nellie" but was known by that name. 

Do you have her in 1939 with her husband which should show exact date of birth?

Note the marriage registration gives a middle initial - Nellie D
Hinchliffe - Huddersfield Wiltshire
Burroughs - Arlingham Glos
Pick - Frocester Glos

In 1939 she is living with her husband Ernest George Hersey in Ash. Does the birth. actually say Nellie Doris Hooper. Maybe she called herself May because that was the month she was born. Now just have to discover where she was born. In one 1939 record it stated she was down as Nellie May The help I have been given is very much appreciated. Regards Eirwen

I posted her birth details from the 1939 Register on another thread. She appears as Nellie M. Hersey. Did you read the link I gave for the 1939 Register? If you read it, it will help you understand what information it does and does not contain.
