Sunderland birth
« on: Saturday 05 May 18 22:42 BST (UK) »
From Aust I am seeking info on Elsie May Williams who married in 1923 in Aust, stating age 23, born Sunderland (not sure which district that is), father Thomas Edgar Williams, engineer of Auckland NZ, mother Margaret Edwards (decd).  (freebdm has an Elsie born in 1902 Sunderland 10a/756).
My basic skills haven't revealed any other information, except in 1892 a Thomas Edgar Williams was appointed administrator of his sister's estate (Emma Elizabeth Williams), which might possibly be the same man. Would anyone care to help please?

Mothers maiden name was Taylor as per GRO online search

What age was Elsie when she died?

Using the GRO search, the only entries for Elsie May Williams with a mmn of Edwards, are registrations in Pontypridd Registration District = 1898 and 1902.

Transcriptions and NBI are merely finding aids.  They are NOT a substitute for original record entries.

Thanks everyone.  Unknown exactly how old Elsie was when she died.  Death index only lists father (Thomas Edgar Williams), not mother.  Family estimated 60 years old.  However her marriage certificate in 1923 said she was 23 (2 years older than her husband).

Does the 1923 marriage cert say Sunderland England or just Sunderland?

With her father being an engineer in NZ I just wondered if there was any place there that sounded like Sunderland - straw clutching really

Sorry, I should have said Sunderland, England.  Have probably hit a brickwall, so please don't puzzle over it.  Thanks :)

Emma Elizabeth Williams
died in Winchester in 1891 and she was 65 years old according to the GRO site,
I am not up on probate records but noted her probate was also mentioned in Scotlands indexs
I see in one census her brother is with her as cousin to head of household, and appears to be the child of Robert and Emma Louisa Mary Williams born Bloomsbury ,her brother  Thomas Edgar born 1836,not impossible to have a child at 64 but this chap dies in 1910 and makes no mention of your Elsie sorry

Thank you Radcliffe for shutting down another possibility.  Thomas Edgar and his wife are most elusive.  One family member apparently had a vague recollection T E was in India for a bit.  His occupation on daughters marriage certificate said engineer.  I trickled around some free genealogy sites in NZ but it seemed a hopeless task.  Appreciate the interest.  Thanks all.
