Thank you all for the interest.  The details after marriage are well known to the family, but pre marriage the mystery.  Do remain hopeful, and appreciate everyone’s help and opinions. :)

There is a 1901 census in Durham for "Thomas William aged 32 born St Gust Cornwall; Margaret aged 33, Bertha 7 and Annie 4".    Could someone investigate this for me please?

Not sure what you mean by investigate.   :-\  Seaham Colliery, Durham shown as place of birth for Margaret, and Murton Colliery, Durham for the two children.

1893 birth registration for Bertha WilliamS in Easington District, Durham gives mmn as Brown and Annie in 1896, same district and same mmn.

Transcriptions and NBI are merely finding aids.  They are NOT a substitute for original record entries.

Thanks Bumblebee, I was hoping for a mother's maiden name of Edwards, and as it is not, you have put a stop to following an incorrect line.  Appreciate that you checked.  :)
