It seems probable that the Robert Scott Master Gardener is the father of the founder of the Tweed Industry in Dumfries. I have found that he died on the 5th April 1824 in Dumfries but have been unable to find any record in Scottish People. I also have drawn a blank with his wife Mary McMichael. I have checked St Michaels Churchyard in Dumfries where his sons and grandsons are buried but he alas does not feature in the records.

Have now found that Robert Scott senior  was buried in Tinwald Churchyard but that no records are found for this Parish in Scotlands People. Thanks to anyone seeking information on my behalf
