Hoye/Hoy Birth
« on: Sunday 06 May 18 22:38 BST (UK) »
Im looking for a birth of a Josephine Hoye in Dublin circa 1918.

Just to add further confusion I note from census entries that there were variations of the spelling of the surname which can also be seen in some cases as Hoye -Hoy -Hoey.

What I do know of Josephine was she married Patrick Kelly circa 1946 (presumably in Dublin)

as a child she had several siblings who all died of Tb in the same year..(I havent any name's or further info on them)

Josephine died in Dublin aged 31 in 1949 and her address was in the North inner City.

Im hoping to link her Birth/marriage details to several Hoye/Hoy entries in 1901-1911 in the North Dock ward's.

I think you have nailed it on those marriage and death entries Sinnan, the Liberty house connection would be correct, Im presuming that the Family may have been among the first to move into the complex from another address in the locality which may have been demolished/condemned around the same time.

Having her father's name from the Marriage cert is now a big help in piecing the family together, though the variation in the surname will probably throw up the usual problem's.
Hopefully I can find her Birth entry.
Thank you.

Proceed with caution, you did say married circa 1946 and there is that 1945 marriage, although the age on the marriage would give you an 1918 birth and the addresses being the same would point to the 1939 marriage keep the other marriage in mind if things don't pan out.

Certainly will Sinann, I intend purchasing the 1945 marriage cert just to be on the safe side, I know there was mention of a sister 'Bella', I notice on the 1939 cert that (found in the early hours) that one of the witness was Elizabeth Hoey, perhaps her sister 'Bella'.

The Father's name on cert was Patrick Hoey, I delved a bit further into the 1901 -1911 census for the area around the north inner city near Liberty House and came up with a 'possibility' of a Patrick Hoey wife Mary/Margaret nee Killeen.

Hopefully I can find a Josephine Hoey/Hoy born circa 1918-19 with mother 'Killeen'.
