I don't even know what language that is, but there is a very good Android app which allows you to take a photograph of a sign and then it will try and translate the sign into English.

If anybody is that interested I'll try and find the name of it, but it worked very well in Croatia three or four years ago for me.

It is at the apex of the gable end of the roof.

There is a similar sign in the same place on an image of Summer hills accomodation, another station on the line.

It seems to be Hindi Sanskrit, maybe adding sanskrit to the title of the post will catch someone’s eye

      I had hoped for something more revealing than 'Platform 1'. However in the event that may indicate direction of the photo. Does anyone know if 'Platform 1's  were consistently on the up or down line?
     I have enlarged the station sign as best I can and so perhaps our language experts can make some thing of the Hindi inscription. T

टी  is probably hindi.  The sound is 'ti' .  Although it isn't the hindi word for tea, might it indicate a tea room?
