Not sure if this is your John Hinson or not as dates don't quite fit.
There is a marriage in Shoreditch, London 24 November 1806 between a John Hinson and a Catharine Game.
Cambridge FHS have a baptism for a Catherine Game 16 January 1779 in Cambridge St Giles, parents Robert and Mary.

Might be worth looking into.

Yes, that's where I got the name Catherine Game from! I did investigate this wedding months ago. It does like fairly likely, it must be said.

But yes, the dates would make one child illegitimate.

Maybe that is why they married in London and not Cambridgeshire, perhaps their neighbours thought they were already married  :-\

Yes, that's certainly possible. I have two sets of ancestors who had an illegitimate child, married, and there was a gap in age between the legitimate and illegitimate children. In this case, there was a gap of around 2 years between the birth of their first child, Marian, and their second, Elizabeth.

Catherine's parents married at St. Giles in 1775. Mother Mary Harman.

Here is her christening:

Another case of the same-sex couple, this time a Thomas and Matthew Harman. Perhaps mistranscribed from Thomas Matthew Harman, the father? I'm not sure.
