Looking for a birth area
« on: Wednesday 09 May 18 10:02 BST (UK) »
If you have the name of the person The exact date of birth. Is there anyway  possible to locate where born. The name and date does not relate to information on BDS. site. Any advice would be appreciated. Regards Eirwen.

Not sure what you mean by “BDS site”?

You don’t mention a country or a time period.

If you mean England & Wales in the period covered by civil registration, then check FreeBMD.

My mistake, had a senior moment. Should have put BMD site . The year was 1905 but no idea what area. The one’s in 1905 do not tally.

I presume you are referring to your search for Nellie Hooper (several posts recently in different areas) where you know her date of birth from the 1939 register but can't find her birth.

Who is it and whats the date of birth?

Also don't forget they can be wrong on other 'official' things too - one of mine the date was right but not the year on the 1939 register - whether she'd shaved a few years off or just counted wrong I don't know

Plus don't forget spelling may be off on birth registrations too - I have one who is Walters but her birth is indexed under Waters

Also my husbands grandmother was Norah Lily, however on her birth it's registered as Lily Norah (her father's WW1 records the same year have it the way round that she was known - as do all other documents)

You are correct.  I am getting nowhere. Her father Henry James. Hooper was a commercial traveller according to her marriage certificate in 1930 and he was desceased. Looked in 1901 census and could not find him. Also looked for a death ,again no luck. Thanks for showing an interest.Eirwen

You might be correct about various name changes. The family said she was always known as Nellie May Hooper . Sometimes called Nora. Then the marriage certificate said her Name wa Nellie DORIS Hooper. But have looked with all names , especially Nellie Doris. But until the 1911 census is released I will just have to wait. Eirwen

Never thought of looking for Ellen or Helen. Another source to investigate. Eirwen
