Adam Jackson 1893
« on: Thursday 10 May 18 12:19 BST (UK) »
I am stuck trying to find out what happened to Adam Jackson born 1892/3 in Preston to Elizabeth Jackson maiden name Brindle. I Have 3 of the boys on the 1901 census in the workhouse at Kirkham, I know that Richard Henry is on a ship to Canada in 1905, I have found information to say he arrived in Canada on the 17th May 1905. At one point both Adam and Richard were in Guardians of Poor on Watling Street Fulwood Preston, I have found them on school records which say they lest the workhouse one on the 20th April 1905, this one to Canada and his brother Adam left 5th September 1905 and that is where everything goes cold. A family memember once told me that the youngest two were shipped out to Canada, I also know the family were Catholic.

Whilst in the workhouse in Kirkham they also had their brother William with them but he went on to live with one of his sisters in Poulton-le-fylde, we know he had a hard life and what happened at the hands of people supposed to be caring for him and his brothers.

I would dearly love to find what happened to Adam, I have searched immigration records etc., but nothing, I have also found an Adam Jackson on 1911 census working in Lytham but am not entirely sure this is him.

Any ideas gratefully received. TIA

Susan

sgf28 thanks for that one Ive taken a look and its a possibility but when i cross reference on the Home Children and look at that year and ship there is only a James Jackson who arrived ??.

ciderdrinker thanks for the info on a returning soldier this might just be him as when you look on free bmd it does come up as september 1893. Its quite sad to think that family were sent away and forgotten about, plus the hardships they endured.

Thank you

On the Candian Archives site I looked for WW1 Service records. There is a record for an Adam Jackson born 11/08/1893 in Leith Scotland. I imagine this mouldy be the returning soldier on the ship in 1921.
