Warrington St. Andrew
« on: Thursday 10 May 18 16:51 BST (UK) »
Does anyone know whereabouts in Warrington St. Andrew's church used to be?

There is a modern church of that name at Orford, but I'm looking at a chap who became a Chelsea Pensioner in 1799, and gives the parish as his address.
Looking at ALSTON in south Ribble area, ALSTEAD and DONBAVAND/DUNBABIN etc. everywhere, HOWCROFT and MARSH in Bolton and Westhoughton, PICKERING in the Whitehaven area.

It is always possible that the present day church was built on the site of an earlier church. Have you tried contacting the Vicar?

Not according to Old Maps, where that church is was open countryside until the 1950s.

I have to conclude that whoever filled in the register knew little about Warrington, and even less about St. Elphin.

William Dunbobbin was baptised in 1763 at St. Elphin's, as William Dunbavin.
