I'm afraid the death certificate doesn't give Catherine's normal address. It simply says -- what looks like 'L.C. Poorhouse, Oban.'

As regards her age -- shown as 85 -- if there were no family members around when she was admitted in the first place, then that could be wrong of course.

Thanks P & yes that would be Lorn Combination Poorhouse.

I have now looked at the McKinnon/McDougall marriage...no help at all i.e. inconclusive!

Residence for Alexander is Penmore (Mull), Labourer but I'm unsure of what's written in the next column above Crofter?
Heading for column 6 with 'Crofter' is;
"Name, Surname & Rank or Profession of Father, Name & Maiden Surname of Mother"
Married Derraig (Mull)

It could be 'Weaver'?

Just a thought --- I know that in Scotland a Crofter looked after a ptach of land --- but In the Weaving trade here in Lancashire -- a 'Crofter' bleached material.

In this case he was probably the normal Scottish Crofter --- but it's just something to bear in mind if he was a Weaver.

That looks good & here in Scotland it wouldn't be unusual as multi-tasking was common such as Crofter/Fisherman or other.

I don't think I've ever seen a MC with such little info.
