hi if u want maybe u can help me with another inquiry..but this time it has nothing to do with sweden or the hansson family... my grandmother's father richard matthews was born in hastings england, he married my great grandmother ella victoria smith on april 6,1921 in manitoba canada..ella's parents were rupert pruden smith and harriet louisa brown..anyways the matthews line is kind of a mystery...and there seems to be two seperate geneologies from different people about richard...the first geneology has him the son of edwin matthews and caroline purkis.. the second geneology i saw has him as the son of william matthews from battle, sussex, england and a mary ann holman..  now if he was the son of william and mary the info i got was.. One of those links goes to this family, with the ages of the parents very different to the 1901 census that I posted:
Immigration in March 1907 going to Saint John, New Brunswick, Canada on the Empress of Britain
William Matthews   51   1856   England
Mary Matthews          52   1855   England
Edward Matthews   17   1890   England
Richard Matthews   13   1894   England
Frederick Matthews   11   1896   England

William Matthews   Head   M   54   Hastings, Sussex
Mary Matthews   Wife   F   55   Not Known
John Matthews   Son   M   19   Hastings, Sussex
George Matthews   Son   M   17   Hastings, Sussex
Harry Matthews   Son   M   13   Hastings, Sussex
Edward Matthews   Son   M   11   Hastings, Sussex
Richard Matthews   Son   M   8   Hastings, Sussex
Frederick Matthews   Son   M   6   Hastings, Sussex
Mary Gibbs

Name   Richard Matthews
Event Type   Birth Registration
Registration Quarter   Jan-Feb-Mar
Registration Year   1893
Registration District   Hastings
County   Sussex
Event Place   Hastings, Sussex, England
Volume   2B
Page   28
Line Number   86.

he was a member of the Northwest Mounted Police here in canada..which later became the RCMP and also served in the First World War too. I would just to get the info clarified..to see which line he actually came from..in regards to parents...and then i can go from there in regards to the search! bye for now. matthew :)

the reason for the confusion as to richard matthews...was he and ella split and got divorced...and he dropped right off the radar and no one for sure knows about what happened to the family...the only thing i do know is that he also had 3 children with ella. my grandmother marjorie victoria matthews b 1923..canada, nelson matthews, and also dorothy matthews...and there were some rumours that he ended up in british columbia
