Hi, I am researching my 2nd Great Grandfather Charles Auld who married Lillias Baird. I believe his parents were Andrew Auld & Susan Brown who at this moment I know nothing about. According to the census Charles says he was born in Riccarton or Kilmarnock. I am trying to find out who his Brothers & Sisters were.

I also do not appear to be able to find Andrew Auld & Sarah Brown in the census and wonder if she died and Andrew remarried.

I would be really grateful if someone would be able to help me out. Thank you Richard

Charles Auld married Lillias Baird.

Can you tell us where/when Charles & Lillias married with their abodes, ages, witnesses & occupation please?

I'm assuming his parents names were given on his marriage?

What was his father's occ. & were his parents still living?

Did it give his mother's married name & maiden surname?

Hi, Charles Auld & Lillias Baird married 13th or 30th day of Dec 1870 in Kilmarnock, Charles was 20 years old and was a Plumber living in East Shaw Street. Andrew Auld looks like his proffession is venetian weaver and Susan Auld (it looks like the maiden name is Brown) Underneath that it says dead. Lillias was a mill worker, lived at West Netherton street, Parents are Andrew Baird (tailor) & Margaret Baird nee Evans. That also says dead underneath. I think the witnesses are Robert Auld and James Barronan. The scan is difficult to read. I hope this helps

Cheers Richard

Not sure where Andrew was but at home were;

Charles (Cotton Weaver) & Ann (parents who were on 1841
Margaret (dau) 16
Allan (Son) 14

This looks as though there's a good chance of them being connected?

Hello, It does look like Andrew Auld married three times by the same people being together in the census at different times. I am finding it difficult though to find the births.  I have been looking on ScotlandsPeople for the births but not had much luck as yet. Were births registered the same way as in England?. I am finding it fascinating. I really appreciate everybody's help. Cheers Richard
