James W. Harding and Sarah B. Wyatt pre-marriage (1861 Census)
« on: Sunday 13 May 18 18:40 BST (UK) »
Hello,

James and Sarah married in 1867, in Frindsbury. I haven't been able to locate either of them in 1861. James was born in 1845, in Thorverton, and Sarah was born in 1834, in Plympton St. Mary.

I'd appreciate any help!

Adam

I see that she was Sarah Brown Wyatt, daughter of William (a farmer) and Elizabeth, of Collaford.

Yes, that's right. That's about as wealthy as my family gets. The exact acreage William farmed is given on the 1851 Census.

James Westcott Harding was born in 1845/6 (can't remember) as James Westcott Harden.

Yes, most likely. His father was a farmer too. But it was a lot of land so it would've taken quite a bit of money to rent.

That's great! I presume you got that from his will and probate? I got his date of death from there - I think a Rootschat member found it for me. It gives his address in Balham too.
