We all scoff about the ethnicity results we get from our dna tests.
This one belonging to a friend is so different.

Scandinavia 11%
Asia South 9%
Europe West 5%
Middle East 4%
European Jewish 3%
Iberian Peninsular 3%
Finland/North West Russia

My test results were:

71% Great Britain ( Southern England.  Not surprising with known links to Cornwall, Devon and Somerset)

9% Ireland, Scotland, Wales.  Thought that would be higher as 2 X great grandparents from Wales.

6% Europe East and 5% Iberian Penninsular.

However sons surprised me:

Great Britain 58%
 Southern England
 Europe East 27%
 Europe West 5%

Grandfather was Polish, so no surprise there, but grandmother was from Scotland and have traced back four or five generations.  Love to know her ancestry.
James -Victoria, Australia originally from Keynsham, Somerset.
Janes - Keynsham and Bristol area.
Heale/Hale - Keynsham, Somerset
Vincent - Illogan/Redruth, Cornwall.  Moved to Sculcoates, Yorkshire; Grass Valley, California; Timaru, New Zealand and Victoria, Australia.
Williams somewhere in Wales - he kept moving
Ellis - Anglesey

I recently had my DNA done.My Gilberts of Shirehampton has no match to the various Gilbert families around the Bristol area. However i had a match to Lord Burgleigh - Thomas Cecil and other people with the names of Howells, Webb, Harris, Word and Hyatt. The DNA hotspot was centred around the Herefordshire/Wales border near Vowchurch. This DNA pool has a connection to the USA, Gloucestershire [Forest of Dean], Somerset and Australia. - very INTERESTING.
Now the challenge of matching the DNA tree with the known paper tree of the various family names.

Cheers
