Francis was a Labourer baptised at Eaton 24 Jul 1803 & Sarah 08 Mar 1806 at Harston, Leicestershire.

I am looking for two of his children from his first marriage - Ann & Betsy.

Ann baptised  20 Jan 1833 Eaton, and
Betsy baptised 09 Jan 1840 Eaton

Sarah was buried 22 Sep 1842 at Eaton. 

Francis secondly married Mary SILLS a single woman at Eaton 10 Jul 1843. Mary was baptised Eaton 25 Feb 1816.

Francis and Mary's three children were baptised at Eaton:
Robert 01 Sep 1844
Francis 06 May 1847
Ellen 23 Jan 1849

In the 1851 census Francis & Mary were at Undrill, Eaton, Melton Mowbray. With them were:
Betsy aged 11
Robert aged 6
Francis aged 4
Eleanor [Ellen] aged 2

[Ann was not listed]  (Edit) Ann married Matthew BISHOP 04 Jul 1859 Melton Mowbray.

I located Mary and her and Francis daughter Ellen in the 1861 census visiting Henry & Sarah SADDINGTON at Market Overton, Oakham, Rutland & Leicestershire, England.

I couldn't locate the rest of the family in the 1861 census.

Francis was buried 18 Dec 1865.

After that I lose track of the family.

Assistance to locate the family will be much appreciated.

Daughter Ann married Matthew Bishop at Melton Mowbray on 4 Jul 1859, and in 1861 they are in Wellingborough, Northamptonshire with a 7-month old daughter named Sarah.

Betsy is proving a challenge??

She is indeed - but I've finally found her in the Criminal registers.  Convicted at Warwickshire Assizes on 31 July 1860.  There is a record for her that goes on for several pages and confirms her father as Francis Shelton of Eaton.

Added: Discharged on Licence to Birmingham 12 Nov 1863.

Betsy was released early due to ill health from her 4 years of servitude [released 12 Nov 1863 Birmingham] and as yet haven't located her after this date.

Your thoughts: located a marriage to Joseph LEE Coventry, St Michael 04 Sep 1871 and tried to find this couple in the 1881 census without luck so far.  To check if this Betsy was born in Eaton, Leicestershire.

I can't find her after her release either 

The couple you found are in Coventry in 1891 with children including Rose M Lee b 1879.   Betsy was born c1850 in Coventry and the mmn for all of the children is Shilton.

Death: 1899 Fitzroy South, Victoria - Betsy Freeman Gissing aged 53. Parents Frank Shelton & Sarah Starbuck.

I was looking in Australia because of an assisted passenger record dated 30/03/1864 for Eliz Shelten going to Queensland, but whether this is the same person I don't yet know - I'll let you enjoy searching for that!
