Dear Sister

Just a few lines to let you know that I recieved your kind and welcome letter alright and glad to see by it that you was all well at home as it leaves me the same at present.  We have all got new numbers now so you will see it at the top of the letter don’t forget to put it down in the next letter because there is a chance in not getting them.  I have got another stripe so I am a corporal now.  You was saying in the last letter that I got that Willie Duff is out here so I was thinking it is about his turn because he has been a long time at home he will know what it is to want a hot ??  You were saying that there is going to be a fishing at home this year so I hope it is the case it will give the town a lot of good which it is badly need of because I expect it is in starvation at present.  We are getting splendid weather just now so I hope it keeps up a while because we have had a terrible time of bad weather lately.  I don’t suppose my father will be long till he get a start again if there is going to be fishing he is getting to old for going to sea now because he is getting the worse of wear.  Little more to say at present from your brother Willie write soon.

Again, spellings as per letter and one word I can't manage  :-\

Having worked for GPs for a few years, I can read almost anything - expect the letters from my relation who was a Missionary in Africa.  :-X
