Absolutely right PB.  A question of assembling the clues, seeing what seems to add up and then , as a solicitor would say - taking a view.

There will be post 1837 certs that will help add to the case, Mary Martha's 1865 Lambeth death for example.  Need now to put it all logically together (in French) and see what our friend in France makes of it.
