On RootsChat can I ask a question about an entry in the 1939 Register for people now deceased?

As long as you aren't asking for an actual look up, it should be fine.

The register includes an entry for Wilfred D Evans (b.23 Dec 11) wife Dorothy (b.8 Feb 10)and daughter Marjorie (b. 25 Nov 37) living in Childer Street Liverpool.

Against Marjorie is an annotation "1/2 M/C 30660? and the surname Heap".    Heap became her married name in 1958 but she did not meet or know her future husband until c.1955.

Can anyone throw light on what the annotation means, moreover, how can her married name of 1958 appear on a 1939 register?

The 1939 National Register became the NHS Register, and was continually updated (by the NHS) until it was digitised (late 1980s? early 1990s?).

Hi,

The 1939 National Register became the NHS Register, and was continually updated (by the NHS) until it was digitised (late 1980s? early 1990s?).

It was updated until 1991.

Hope this helps.

Kind regards

That's quiet normal Gerry for women who married, and so is very helpful. As KGarrad and David said it would have been added later after she married not in 1939.

This tells you all about the register and is worth reading

Be Very weary  of DOB given in the 1939 Register !
I have been Bombarded recently by Ancestry 1939 Register Entries
Have found Loads of DOB entries that DO NOT match the actual BIRTH CERTS
What's that about ?
Did they not know ?
Or Did they Lie ?
