Just looked at entry.  Sadly nothing in it that would confirm it's the right person.

Death was presumed to be "on or since" 26.10.17 but place of death is not shown.  His service number was 202805 - 2nd battalion Gordon Highlanders.  His Medal Roll Index does not show he died in another country and does not show his full middle name.

It does give a second regimental number of 6444.  A payment of £15 3s 9d was paid to mother Elizabeth on 11.6.1919

So this could be the case that maybe it wasn’t a body that was found or there is no exact death place ?

This making this very hard to pin point - although I think we are pretty close

Hi folks

I
Have found George smith - it was him that we saw little detail on , it was confirmed from a contact on a war record website which backed it up with the local newspaper death notice

Having found John smith very hard to find I decided to look on deceased online as he was recorded on his mother’s death cert

With this I found his mother’s grave and details and he happened to be in the same grave

Why I couldn’t find him was he died in Aberdeen royal infirmary so his home town wasn’t on the region it was the hospital
Region this making it hard to find with a common name like his and the fact I didn’t have an age to work with

Thanks to everyone that helped me on this post and I wanted to let you know I have found them both

Thank you
