Can someone identify Regiment please?
« on: Wednesday 16 May 18 11:48 BST (UK) »
This is 1939 & one of the men (circled) is Robert Miller from Fife, Scotland

His son doesn't know which Regiment/Battalion so would be good to find out.

Could this be the Home Guard (LDV)? Age, WW1 medal ribbons, etc?
Thomas, Davies, Jones, Walters, Daniel in Carmarthenshire and Ceredigion. That should narrow it down a bit!
Vincent: Fressingfield, Suffolk, Stockton & Sunderland.
Murtha/Murtaugh: Dundalk & Sunderland
Ingram: Cairnie by Huntly, Scotland then Abergavenny, Monmouthshire.
Bardouleau: London - in memory of my stepmother Annie Rose née Bardouleau who put up with a lot from me.

Thanks for your reply d/p!

I did a 'google' search & yes LDV as 'Homeguard' had been mentioned although he/I had no idea what it meant, we thought it meant they were guarding their home territory but in a particular Regiment  ::)

I understand now & will pass on the info. I found.

Would he have had 'Papers' which could be applied for to the MoD?
If so, I have their web address/link

I don't have any details re his age at the time of WW2.

It's a guess but the cap badges are huge and suggest Black Watch.  As HG they might have been issued the side cap rather than the regular Bn's scots bonnets.

The Fife Hg were the 7th Fife and the 9th Fife HG Bns Black Watch

Thanks Alan!

I have found this - https://www.iwm.org.uk/collections/item/object/1030024237

Will pass on the info. as this seems to have a lot of info.

I'm unsure whether all in the pic were from Fife, I only know the person circled in the pic was actually from Fife & no names for any others to give any clues to try & find out but your info. is interesting.

Thanks Imber!

I notice the dates on both links are after 1939 when the photo was taken if the date is correct?

Thanks Imber,

That would make sense & coincide with given year of pic  ;)
