Records of deaths and burials for the Public Assistance Institution Southwark

I have traced a relative to the Institution who was shown on the 1939 National register. Because of their age they probably died within a further 5 years.Does anyone know if deaths in institutions were publicly registered or were retained on institution records only? I would love to find what happened after 1937. Attempts so far have been to no avail
