Deciphering WW2 service record

Good evening,

Could anybody throw some light on the attached 'snips' of my grandfathers service record.  I am not sure what is meant for example by 'WSI 3 years' and 'annual filming'.  I am also struggling to read the message about his release at the bottom of the page. 

Any help would be appreciated.

Hi there,
Your grandfather enlisted in the RAF on 30/12/1940 as a Clerk GD (General Duties). His character was "VG" (Very Good), conduct "Sat" (Satisfactory) and Performance "Supr" (Superior). Promoted to Corporal on 31/12/1943. First "Good Conduct Badge" awarded on 5th or 6th/12/1943.
Time Forfeited: 1 day - 12/1/43-13/1/43, Cause Absence (NOT AWOL)
Comment re Release: Discharge Reserve (?) wef (with effect from) the date of attaining age of 49 (?) years. (From this, one could assume he was born circa 1896, aged 44 years at enlistment).
Effective date of release (discharge) 16/1/1946.

q98  - you were not sure about the release/discharge dates etc.  To clarify - the 16 Jan 46 date is the day he shed his uniform and was no longer in the RAF.  However, he was released, as the majority were, to the  Class A reserve which meant that should the war break out again he would be called up.  This commitment lasted until age 45* (the clerk has run the 5 and the "y" together which makes it look like 49) when he would be discharged.   His date of birth relates to what looks like a date before "date of".
