Hi, thanks everyone for getting involved. On the birth certificate for Ivy Marguerite Adams it says that Henry Adams is a licensed victualler. I have not been able to pin down either Marguerite Strain (or Adams) or Henry Adams. Help from this forum before found a Henry Adams on an electoral register connecting 35 Hawley Road with Albion Villa Alderbert Terrace, Lambeth in 1905 or 1906. The only person ever found connecting these two addresses was a Scottish Henry Adam (engineer) in a 1902 newspaper article on a Brother's Slander of his sister Mary Miller (and wife of John Miller a chemist).
Henry Adam is from Govan. I find him in 1911 in Donegal with a wife and kids. The Margaret Strain mentioned (born 1885) is I think the person I found working on a farm in Lanarkshire in the 1901 census. As a candidate for Ivy's mother I just can't find anything to support why she would have gone down to London and had a baby, then gone back to Scotland.  So my pursuit of both Henry Adam and Margaret Strain of Lanarkshire is just a tenuous hunch.
As pointed out Ivy Marguerite Adams was later known as Ursula Ruby Adams. On the 1911 census I am pretty sure Ivy the boarder is her. Partly because the neighbours either side are Pratt and Barton. I know that Ursula had witnesses at her wedding called Pratt and Barton.
I am just looking at a gaping hole with who Ivy Marguerite's parents were. I have even done a DNA test and put it on all the sites to try and eliminate people.

Forgot to mention the draper angle. Yes, Charles Henry Reads seems to be in the drapery business. I did find a Henry Adams in Hornsey in the 1911 census who was also in the drapery business. Though it seems a bit weird going from licensed victualler to draper.

Also, I don't know any siblings for Ivy Marguerite Adams. She was very disfunctional ran away when my mum and her siblings were children. They never knew anything about her.

There is a photo of Margaret Strain (became Strain Hannah) of Lanarkshire born 1885 on Ancestry.
This is my granny. Does anyone think there is a resemblance?

Sorry. Ivy Marguerite Adams change of name to Ursula Ruby Adams was I think completely unofficial. In the London Gazette for 1948 it lists her two different names under re-nationalisation of people after WWII. She is referred to there as Ursula Shiraishi otherwise Ivy Marguerite Adams, otherwise Ruby Ursula Adams. My grandfather was Hideo Shiraishi, from Japan. He brought my mum up.

I have not read your other thread/s so expect this may already have been suggested, but have you traced the Reads to see if they lead you anywhere?

Hi if as the birth certificate suggests Henry Adams was at 35, Hawley Road, St Pancras c 1906, he was not there in 1901 or 1911, oddly the Henry Adams occ Commercial Traveller Drapery/Drapery Agent in Wightman Road Hornsey in 1901/11 had a daughter also called Marguerite b c 1895 Henry as a widower married the Housekeeper Alice Clifton and in 1901 is a Sarah Read 17 a coincedence perhaps!
