Hi Lud,

You might want to adjust your scanner settings and post a better quality scan to get the best results:
- 300 dpi (and preferably 600 dpi)
- highest quality jpg (=lowest compression)
- save in RGB (not grayscale)

The size of the file you posted is relatively small (less than 200KB for the full A4) while up to 500 KB is allowed. Zooming right in on individual faces shows  digital 'noise' due to jpg compression (see attachment) which is not in the original photo. This means that some of the finer details (eyes, noses, mouths, etc) are less sharp in the scanned/saved image than in the original photo. Yes there are white spots and creases to be removed but the scan resolution and jpg quality together determine how clear and sharp the faces will be in the restored version.

If you find that the high-quality A4 file is larger than 500 KB, you can use the Windows 10 photo app 'edit' option (or numerous on-line photo-editors) to crop the photo from the full A4 and save it separately.

Mike
Photo restorers may re-use and improve on my posted versions. Acknowledgement appreciated.
