It is a better way to exit but I don't always do it.

I hope everything works..... basically the update created a shadow copy of your profile, but didn't delete it after update so the computer had 2 of you and didn't know which one to use.

Hence the   "\desktop is not available"  notice!

Non-Tech explanation which someone will probably try to elaborate on...    ;D ;D

I used "way 3", holding down the shift key from the sign in page and following your instructions from there, I really am grateful as I thought I was going to have to take it in for repair.
