trade directories
« on: Saturday 19 May 18 17:41 BST (UK) »
I wonder if any one knows if there is a trade directory for West Bromwich between the 1840s and 1870s I am looking for any information on a Provision Dealer in the area during this period. I am trying to find out more about his life other than what it says on the census, his name is William Barton, many thanks.

Transcriptions and NBI are merely finding aids.  They are NOT a substitute for original record entries.

The London Gazette  https://www.thegazette.co.uk/all-notices

Search for "William Barton" (include the "   " as part of search key) and publication date 01/01/1860 to 31/12/1860

2 entries re. All Saint's Street and Parsonage Street

Thank you, information very interesting, lots of extra detail, my man went through a sticky patch late in life ! I shall try and find out how long he was in prison for, not too long I think because by April for the census he was back home at All Saints, down on the census as a Provision Dealer.
