Goddard dead end
« on: Saturday 19 May 18 22:24 BST (UK) »
Hello,

John Goddard was baptised in Enfield in 1780, but both the transcript and original record do not give any parents. Can anyone find any wills or anything that may provide clues to John's parentage? He married Martha Corby in Edmonton in 1811.

Thanks,

Adam

If his parentage is unknown - how can anybody know whose will to look for?

Don't wills often name living children? In my experience they have.

FamilySearch says baptized 8 March 1780.
But I can't see it on ancestry?

Yes they probably do but as you don't know his fathers name - how would you know which Goddard will to search for or look at?

Presumably his father was still alive in 1780 so could have died anytime from 1780 onwards.

Is he on the 1851 census confirming his birth year and birthplace as 1780 Enfield?
