Looking for confirmation of 1748 baptism of Jane Hewitt/Huett
« on: Sunday 20 May 18 14:37 BST (UK) »
Hi,

I'm trying to find confirmation for a 30 December 1748 baptism of Jane Hewitt/Huett in Mold, Flintshire. Found nothing so far in FindMyPast and FamilySearch records, although the baptism was entered in a family tree on the site of the latter.

Jane Hewitt 1748 - bur 29 Sept 1832 Bannel/Hawarden
= 1) on 08 Dec 1777 to William Newton; children Ann, James, Margaret, Mary
= 2) on 01 Aug 1785 (as Jane Newton) to Roger Prince; children Ellin, George, John

I did have quite an extensive amount of data on these people, but unfortunately lost most of it due to crashing disks. Any additional info i.e. parents, more children etc would therefor be highly appreciated.

It keeps me off the streets ;)

Hi

FindMyPast do have a record of a Jane baptised on the 30 December 1748 Mold - parents George and Anne.

The surname at first glance looks like HUGHES but comparing other letters namely an "s" and a "t" from other forenames and surnames on the page I would definitely say the surname of this Jane is HUGHET.

There are numerous children born in Mold to George & Ann though the surname varies

George Bapt. 30 March 1736 son of George & Ann HUETT

George Bapt 21 Nov 1750 - surname HUET

Mary Bapt 7 June 1742 surname HAGHET

Margeret Bapt 26 Jan 1751 surname transcribed as HACT image looks like HUET.

Alice Bapt 8 Feb 1746 surname HUGHET, transcribed as Hughes.

And yes..

Now that I've looked at the source I do agree the last letter is a t and not an s.

Again, thank you.
