Family Missing on 1871 & 1891 Censuses.
« on: Sunday 20 May 18 17:24 BST (UK) »
Hi all,

I am helping a friend with their family history & am unable to locate the family in question on the 1871 & 1891 censuses. I have them in 1881 & 1901. The details of the two censuses that I have the family on are as follows:

1881

(RG11/147/72/41)
86, Seymour Place, Marylebone

Walter Davies (1839-1909) Head 40 born Aigburth, Lancashire, Coachman
Helen Davies (1840-1902) Wife 39 born Ramsgate, Kent
Walter (William) Davies (1866-?) Son 15 born Marylebone, Middlesex, Stable Boy
Esther Ann Davies (1875-?) Daughter 6 born ?, Middlesex (Place name is there, but can't read it!)

There is also a lodger living with them.

1901

(RG13/1/77/4) (Transcribed as Davis, but clearly Davies)
21, Dudley Street, Paddington

Walter Davies Head 60 Groom ? Masters, born Aigburth, Lancs (Transcribed as Aighuth on Ancestry)
Helen Davies Wife 59 born Ramsgate, Kent
Annie Datton/Dalton Daughter Married 2? Laundry Maid (Wash) born Knightsbridge London

The other five people transcribed by Ancestry as being part of the family are actually the wife & 4 children of the chap living next door at number 22!

Can anyone see the family in 1871 & 1891 please?

Also is Annie, Esther Ann? I can't find a marriage for her on freebmd.

Many thanks in advance.

Kind regards

David

Hi CaroleW,

Many thanks indeed for your replies, very much appreciated.

Walter & Helen married in Paris, France in 1861. Thread here re locating the marriage: http://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php?topic=792184.msg6482847#msg6482847

Many thanks for the marriage info, much appreciated. Without the missing censuses I do not know exactly how many children Walter & Helen had! I am aware of three definite children, Annie Agnes being a possible/probable fourth. Having had a quick look on freebmd I can't see a birth for an Annie Agnes Davies as yet.

My thanks again.

Kind regards

David
